Our origins date back to June 13, 1857, when a group of believers met near the banks of Lime Kiln Branch to form Lime Kiln Branch Missionary Baptist Church (the “kiln” was later dropped). Located in an area known as Walthall in Polk County, Georgia, we were one of four churches originally planted by Cedartown Baptist Church (First Baptist Cedartown). From the 26 charter members in 1857, the church grew, baptizing 212 new believers by 1880.
As the community expanded, the church added a schoolhouse to serve local children, which remained in operation until 1932. Over the years, we have seen the completion of various church buildings, the service of many pastors and deacons, changes in the surrounding landscape, and seasons both joyful and challenging - but through it all, God has remained faithful.
After 168 years of serving the Lord, we are excited about the work He continues to do in our church and community.
Come join us as we learn more about Him through His Word and reach others in His name!
